big deep issues
I was in so many meetings today and have read so many student papers that, while I am supposed to be blogging about either capital punishment, interracial adoption or gay marriage, right now I am running short on firing brain cells. Here’s what I have to offer right now:
- Lindsay Lohan needs to go to jail. This whole DUI thing is serious and should be treated that way
- Never ever teach two classes at the same time in the summer or you are spread too thin and can’t give your students the attention they deserve
- Sometimes you need to stand up for what is right, but also for being treated as you deserve. Being a bright, outgoing, professional woman with a lot of expertise is nothing to apologize for and yet I know many women who spend a lot of time saying “I’m sorry” just for being who they are

haven’t read your blog for a while, so i’ve been catching up tonight.
your #3 hit me. i just posted some self-flagellation on my blog cause i was a bit of a bitch today. for the past three weeks i’ve been calling this one lovely woman by the wrong name, i said out loud that i couldn’t work with this one guy because he would make me crazy (major adhd man), and the said in rather blunt language that we have a responsiblity to teach students how to use the help function of software programs as much as allowing them to turn to each other for help.
and i feel horrendously guilty for all three acts. and your line #3 is slapping me upside the head for feeling bad about my actions.
mucho gracias

awww the last thing I ever meant to do was to make you feel guilty, Gloria. Knowing you and how patient you are, all three of those people deserved all they got and more. You’re right about the help key, we have to learn how many new names every four months, and some people are just plain hard to work with.
No crimes in calling ‘em as you see ‘em.
