i can see the light
Finally, I’m coming out the other side of all of this. Saw a new allergist, who has me on an experimental treatment using asthma medication (interestingly, although I grew up around smokers and smoked for a while myself, I didn’t show signs of developing asthma until moving here. To New Jersey, specifically. What the hell?)
I’ve made it three days without a migraine. I can’t tell you what a huge deal that is, except to say that it is. Took yesterday to sleep and read and watch movies (Running with Scissors was terrible, Saw was gross, Idiocracy was funnier than I expected). Finished a memoir, After Long Silence, that was quite good and am rereading Babbitt, along with all the work-related reading I have, which is good but dense. This morning Willa and I took a long hike and I feel, slowly, that I am coming back to myself.
This last round of migraines was so bad that I contacted experimental studies to enroll. Was ruled out of one, but hopefully one of the others will come through. Nothing like *wanting* to be a guinea pig ’cause nothing else is working.
And now I sit down to catch up on the blog posts the basic skills students have been assigning, among many other things. Onward and upward!

I feel for you. This time last year I, too, was miserable. From September to about January, I was sick 4-5 months straight - with no let up. I wrote you this already. Didn’t you get it?
Anyway, I had new allergy tests done and CAT scans of my sinuses. They found my sinuses to be fine. BUT it appears the doctors had been treating me for sunusitis when I really had rhinitis (which is caused by allergic reaction).
My doctor put me on allergy shots, Clarinex and Nasonex. I’m 200% better now. I use to be on Allegra and Flonase, both of which cease to work at a point. I watch what I eat - especially the dairy stuff (I adore ice cream) , I drink lots and lots of water and I pray. I started out with shots once a week, then every two weeks. Now I’m at maintenance; I go once a month.
I will be praying for you for the Lord to touch your body.
Feel better.

So far the allergies seem to be working, and I am really hoping it continues. I remember you wrote about being so sick too — it makes me feel at least a little better that I’m not the only one, and it’s not all in my head, you know?
